Use the assessment to monitor students’ progress and find out if any students need more practice with the short o words (CVC) and/or the high-frequency words.

Use the Observation Checklist PDF (print button) and Teacher Analysis Prompts to analyze student progress. If students have word pronunciation errors or sound out each letter before pronouncing the word, then revisit the activities in ‘Word Work: Foundational skills’ lesson for more practice and/or have students reread the text.
